Marvels of nature

The Tracker nature choice is

Nkunga Sacred Lake

Tucked away at the edge of Mt Kenya forest in Meru County is this marvel of nature.

Lake Nkunga is a crater lake formed as a result of volcanity, estimated to have happened 250years ago. Undisturbed, with natural springs from the Mt Kenya forest, the surrounding areas have mash ground that can sink an animal.

Lake Nkunga was once a scared for the Ameru, believed to be inhabited by a mythical 7 headed dragon. Lake Nkunga is a key resource for hundreds of elephants that roam the Imenti forest- one of the forests that make up the larger Mt Kenya forest.
