Glocal Healthcare Centre of Excellence (GHCE) celebrates One year of Healthcare Innovation and Community Impact

The GS1 Healthcare Centre of Excellence (GHCE) proudly marked its first anniversary with a vibrant celebration attended by Kajiado County officials, strategic partners, healthcare professionals, and community members. The milestone event underscored GHCE’s journey as a modern facility dedicated to transforming healthcare delivery through patient safety, digital efficiency, and interoperable data systems.

The celebration brought together key stakeholders, including the County Medical Services Director, Assistant County Commissioner, representatives from the Digital Health Agency (DHA), Halisi Hospital, Ministry of Health Sub-County Hospital, and KONZA Technopolis.

Opening ceremonies, presentations, and heartfelt remarks highlighted GHCE’s achievements. Hospital In-Charge Nelson Uyirwoth emphasized progress in patient safety and compassionate care, while GS1 Kenya CEO, Mr. Peter Otieno praised staff resilience and teamwork, noting: “Your teamwork spirit and dedication will determine our growth. Keep pushing the rewards will come.”

Community voices resonated strongly, with Ms. ZamZam, Assistant County Commissioner, calling GHCE “a beacon of hope for the community.” KONZA Technopolis representative Ms. Agatha highlighted the importance of innovation and partnership in advancing healthcare.

A highlight of the day was a guided tour of the GHCE facility, where guests experienced firsthand how operations are powered by GS1 standards. From patient traceability to digital efficiency, the tour demonstrated how global standards ensure safety, interoperability, and streamlined healthcare delivery. The visit reinforced GHCE’s role as a benchmark for modern healthcare facilities across Kenya.

The event climaxed with a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony led by GS1 Kenya CEO Mr. Otieno, alongside KONZA Technopolis, Digital Health Agency (DHA), and other stakeholders. Guests enjoyed networking sessions, staff recognition, and a shared meal that celebrated community spirit. GS1 Kenya General Manager, Eva Buyu encouraged staff to remain proactive and showcase their talents.
