Rising Standards Put Pressure on Supply Chains to Prove Material Origins
With KENAS (Kenya National Accreditation Service) and KEBS (Kenya Bureau of Standards) intensifying certification and inspection efforts this week, construction firms and suppliers are under pressure to prove compliance. Keeping accurate records of materials and suppliers is critical for passing audits.
GS1 identifiers make this easy. Each supplier or warehouse has a GLN, each product has a GTIN and shipments carry SSCCs. This ensures that auditors can verify materials used on-site quickly and reliably. If a project passes inspection, certified suppliers gain credibility; if problems arise, authorities can trace and correct issues without unnecessary delays.
By integrating GS1 standards into the construction supply chain, Kenya moves toward safer, more accountable building practices, protecting both structures and the people who rely on them.
